We are a team of passionate and experienced trailrunners, united by a shared love for discovering and traveling to races and events all over the world. We believe Hong Kong has some of the best trails in the region, and that there is a demand for races and events here that are accessible to all skill levels, organised to an exceptionally high quality and standard.
Runner, Mother, Badass
Nia has always had a passion for running and joined the HK trail running scene in 2015. It wasn’t long after that she was signed up to the many races on offer, getting hooked on the beautiful and scenic trails around Hong Kong and feeling supported by the incredible community around the sport.
Nia has a very young daughter who also loves nature and the outdoors and who can often be seen at the ends of the races she runs.
Runner, Teacher, Acrobat
Steve is fairly new to the trail running scene, but that hasn't stopped him from successfully organising and directing the Hard As Nayls, The Great Relay Hong Kong and The 9 Dragons events already.
He was a founding partner in Hong Kong's newest specialist trail running store - GoneRunning - and well respected for his helpful advice on what gear to get.
Runner, Innovator, Aspiring Chef
Michael is a Sydney-born accomplished runner and triathlete, and father to two beautiful girls. He enjoys traveling around the world on the hunt for new trails and also loves to cook and drink fine wines. Michael manages all RaceBase event sponsors and finances.
DERK VAN DEN HEUVEL
Dutch, Tall, Triathlete.
Derk is a proud Dutchman, passionate triathlete and father to three sporty kids. Derk loves trail running for the opportunity it brings to discover a different side to Hong Kong. He works with other RaceBase staff on race day logistics for our events.
Isaac is in charge of making sure everything gets where it is supposed to be on race day! As our go-to man for organising van pick ups and drop offs, the races simply wouldn't be a success without his insight and experience in ensuring smooth delivery and transfer of food, drink and equipment between checkpoints.
Runner, Writer, Creative
Nic grew up in Hong Kong and fell in love with it's plethora of trail systems while running as part of his high school cross country team.
As a passionate trail and ultra runner, Nic was always a vocal advocate for the sport and it's community. He forged the COO race in 2015 with a friend to bring something different to a heavily saturated racing calendar, where the focus was on a fun and accessible national team format.
We miss him dearly.
